North Street Bridge Replacement to start in Fall 2024
Greenwich DPW holding projecting information session April 9, 2024
The $3 million project is to replace the existing bridge last replaced in 1950, which was identified as deficient in March 2022. Emergency repairs were made at the time and a four-ton weight limit was added.
The project is expected to take more than a year and according to Greenwich Department of Public Works (DPW) will require reducing traffic to a single lane of travel alternating directions with a traffic light system around the construction during much of the construction. Boulder Brook goes under North Street between Cotswood Road and Macpherson Drive.
Greenwich DPW is hosting a Public Meeting about the project 6pm April 9, 2024 at Greenwich Town Hall’s Cone Room. More information about the meeting is on the DPW website.
“The low rating is due to the undermining of the footing and channel apron, collapsed stone masonry stem and footing and exposed underside of deck.” — DPW
